Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to introduce Snug Dental, a specialized children’s dental practice dedicated exclusively to providing general anesthesia services for young patients. Our mission is to create safe, calm, and positive dental experiences for children who may not otherwise be able to complete treatment comfortably in a traditional setting.
As fellow dental professionals, we understand the importance of comprehensive, compassionate care — and we hope you will consider Snug Dental a trusted resource for your patients who require treatment under general anesthesia.

Our practice is led by Beverly Yamasaki DDS, and Michael Mellenthin, MD, our in-house anesthesiologist. After working together for over a decade in pediatric dental offices and surgery centers throughout Northern California, we opened Snug Dental in July 2025. Dr. Yamasaki brings extensive experience caring for both children and adults across a variety of settings — including private practices, hospital environments, and community programs serving underserved populations. Her warm and positive approach, combined with deep clinical experience, allows her to connect with families on a personal level. Parents often appreciate her calm, empathetic manner and her ability to put them at ease while ensuring that each child feels safe, understood, and genuinely cared for. Dr. Mellenthin brings more than 15 years of anesthesia experience in dentistry and over 30 years in medicine, with extensive expertise caring for medically complex patients and those with special healthcare needs. Together, our team is committed to providing a seamless, compassionate, and safe experience for every child and family we serve.
We proudly accept Denti-Cal (Medi-Cal) and most PPO insurance plans. Our practice focuses exclusively on general anesthesia — we do not offer nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation.
For patients with Medi-Cal, anesthesia and most dental treatments are covered, with the exception of anterior white crowns (such as NuSmile® or zirconia). For PPO patients, we offer a flat anesthesia fee, as this service is often not covered by private insurance.
At Snug Dental, we treat children between the ages of 2 and 11 years. For children slightly over the age of 11 with special healthcare needs (including autism, Down syndrome, or other medical conditions), we welcome you to reach out for a consultation. Our goal is to make high-quality, compassionate care accessible for every child who needs it.
When completing our referral form, please fill it out as thoroughly as possible. The form is designed to include all information required for insurance authorization.
Whenever possible, please include the proposed treatment plan, radiographs, and the patient’s height and weight. Radiographs are particularly helpful for older children with permanent dentition, as they are often required for preauthorization of certain procedures.
We truly value the relationships we build with our referring offices. If you’d like to schedule a visit to our clinic — or invite us to visit yours — we would love the opportunity to connect in person.
