General Anesthesia at Snug Dental

We understand that the idea of general anesthesia can feel overwhelming for parents. At Snug Dental, our goal is to make sure you feel informed, confident, and supported every step of the way.

What Is General Anesthesia?

General anesthesia allows your child to sleep comfortably and safely while we complete their dental treatment. During anesthesia, your child is completely unconscious, feels no pain, and has no memory of the procedure. This approach allows us to provide comprehensive dental care in one visit, without fear, discomfort, or stress for your child.

General anesthesia is often recommended for young children, children with extensive dental needs, special healthcare needs, severe dental anxiety, or those who are unable to tolerate treatment while awake.

Is General Anesthesia Safe?

Safety is our highest priority. General anesthesia has been used in pediatric dentistry for decades and is considered very safe when administered by a qualified medical professional in an appropriate setting.

At Snug Dental, general anesthesia is provided and continuously monitored by licensed physician and dental anesthesiologists with extensive experience caring for children. Throughout the procedure, your child’s breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and overall well-being are carefully monitored at all times.

Our office is specifically designed for pediatric anesthesia dentistry and follows strict medical, dental, and safety protocols to ensure the highest level of care.

What to Expect on the Day of Treatment

On the day of your child’s procedure, our team will guide you through each step. After anesthesia is started, your child will fall asleep peacefully. At no point will your child be left alone. The anesthesiologist, dentist, and team of dental assistants will be with your child at all times monitoring their level of anesthesia and vital signs. Once treatment is complete, they will be moved to our recovery area, where they will be closely monitored as they wake up.

It is normal for children to be sleepy, emotional, or disoriented as the anesthesia wears off. Some children may cry, appear confused, or seem uncomfortable temporarily—this is a common and expected response and does not mean your child is in pain. Our team will be right there to support both you and your child during recovery.

Before you leave, we will review post-operative care instructions and answer any questions you may have to ensure a smooth recovery at home.

Our Commitment to You and Your Child

If you have questions or concerns at any point, we encourage you to reach out. We are always happy to talk through the process and help you feel confident in your child’s care.
