At Snug Dental, our commitment to accessible care extends beyond our San Jose office. Through our partnership with Hospital de la Familia in Nuevo Progreso, Guatemala, we volunteer our time to provide dental care for people in the community and surrounding areas.

This work gives us an opportunity to put our experience to use where access to care can be limited. It also reflects something central to our practice: we believe that compassion and a commitment to service should guide the way we care for others.

Hospital de la Familia serves families in rural western Guatemala. Guatemalan healthcare professionals provide year-round care, while visiting volunteer teams support the hospital’s work and expand access to specialized treatment.

The Hospital de la Familia Foundation supports this mission through resources, partnerships, and volunteer involvement. Its work helps address the financial and geographic barriers that can make healthcare difficult to access for families in the region.

Our dental volunteer work contributes to that broader effort, helping people in Nuevo Progreso and nearby communities receive needed care.

Our anesthesiologist, Dr. Michael Mellenthin, serves as board chair of the Hospital de la Familia Foundation. His involvement connects our practice to the organization through both volunteer service and foundation leadership.

For Dr. Mellenthin, serving communities abroad is a meaningful part of his professional life. His volunteer experience also includes providing anesthesia for children undergoing surgery in Guatemala and other countries.

We are proud to support an organization with which he has such a personal connection and to contribute our time and skills to its work.

Through our partnership, we dedicate time to volunteer dental work for the community served by Hospital de la Familia. We contribute to a shared effort that brings together local healthcare professionals, visiting volunteers, and the foundation’s supporters.
